Is "The Originals" about to get "Lost"? Not quite, but when we caught up with Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies, the stars of The CW's upcoming "Vampire Diaries" spin-off, we were curious as to how flashback heavy their new series would be. After all, its predecessor never met a period scene it didn't like, and with a millennium's worth of history at their disposal, there's no shortage of content to mine.

The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals shocked viewers when it was revealed that Klaus (Joseph Morgan), a hybrid, got Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), a werewolf, pregnant. Like, really, really shocked. Fortunately for the expecting duo, they've got a great support system in vampire brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies).

We chatted with Morgan and Gillies on the red carpet at the CW's Upfront presentation in New York City, where they recast the classic '80s film with their characters! Plus, they revealed what fans of The Vampire Diaries can expect from The Originals when it debuts this October..

Joseph Morgan Promises 'A Little' Klaroline Screen Time For 'Vampire Diaries' Finale

Following tonight's season four finale of "The Vampire Diaries," Mystic Falls will be short one befanged family: namely, the Originals who've scored their own spin-off series debuting this fall. But that's not to say there may not be a few loose ends as the Mikaelsons move to the Big Easy. Like, for example, the budding relationship between Klaus and Caroline.
